Dead Tired

“I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead.”
By Warren Zevon
A great guy I know always says this quote. He wanted to spend as much time with me as possible instead of sleeping. His previous job had him traveling all the time and he was only home with me on the weekends. Fortunately, he no longer works this job and is home every evening. We love to travel together to see our families and it helps make up for all the lost time we had.
Warren Zevon, the author of this quote, also wanted to make every moment of his life count and not waste a minute sleeping. The singer songwriter was diagnosed with an inoperable cancer mesothelioma in 2002. Zevon was in the middle of producing his last album, The Wind, and refused any treatment because he thought it would make him so ill that he would not be able to perform or promote his album. This is when he wrote the song “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead.” The first time he performed this song was on The Late Show with David Letterman on October 30, 2002.
Warren Zevon passed away at the age of 56 on September 7, 2003. His last album won two Grammys.
